To inflate the air sac: -
- With the name side facing you, open the tabs of the leather pouch by gently
easing the Velcro apart to free the tube of the rubber air sac.
- Pinch the end of the tube, roll it up tightly
between thumb and forefinger away from you, then tuck it inside the
leather pouch and press the Velcro back together. When done this way, the
neck roll ends up on the far side, away from your foot.
- If more air is required, hold the Imp more gently before you start to roll
the neck, and if you want less air inside give the pouch a slight squeeze
before starting to roll down the neck.
- If less air again is required, remove the air sac and try the leather pouch on
its own.
- If you need so little air in the sac that you find the rolled up neck
intrusive on certain shoes, remove the air sac and replace with the small
piece of foam you get with your kit.
- Stick a piece of the LOOP
(SOFT) Velcro in a vertical strip under
the tongue or upper of your shoe, then attach the Shoe
Imp.® to it.
N. B. When putting on your shoe, it is advisable to hold the
tabs of the Shoe Imp.®
and use a shoehorn at the heel.
The inside of the neck of the air sac comes pre-talcum
powdered but if, at any time, the neck of the air sac adheres to itself, insert
a cotton bud lightly dusted with talcum powder and this should separate the
sides. Please avoid using excess talcum powder as the more you use the less
airtight the neck will be.
To aid insertion of an air sac into a Shoe
Imp.®, insert a cotton bud or similar blunt
object inside the air sac to use as a stiffener when pushing it into the corners
of the leather pouch.
If the Shoe
Imps.® are not in use, keep the necks unrolled with a
lightly dusted blunt pencil pushed down the neck.
